AGREEMENT ON ADAPTATION OF MEMORIAL TOMB MONUMENT OF BULGARIAN SOLDIERS

The delegation of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria, led by the colonel Ilian Kstev, the representative of the Ministry of Defence of Bulgaria and Georgi Jurukov and the general consul of the Republic of Bulgaria in Nis visited Palilula Municipality.  During the meeting with the president of Palilula Municipality they agreed upon the future coming activities in arrangement of Memorial monument (location- Ledena stena, part of Dimitrije Tucovic Boulevard, direction to Novo Selo). For this memorial place from WW 2^nd , the Institution for monument protection in Nis has created for free reconstruction project and the Bulgarian Ministry of Defence has donated 30, 000 euros for this project. With the agreement of Bulgarian and Serbian governments all the other necessary means will be provided for the works. It is expected that the works will have been completed in the first half of 2009 and that, in symbolic way, the high representatives of both countries will plant a tree of peace and friendship. By Strategic programme of development in Palilula Municipality special attention is paid to memorial and monument location of this municipal territory.

About 2500 members of Bulgarian army forces (second Bulgarian army) lost their lives in the finishing war operations against German soldiers in ex- SFRJ territory.

In the process of European integrations this kind of cooperation of two neighboring countries is very significant.
