PALILULA  - THE HOST OF GERMAN SOUND FILM CLASSICS

 International movie manifestation GERMAN SOUND FILM CLASSICS- the films of the 30s and 40s of the last century,  takes place in Nis from February 4 to February 8 in NKC, Palilula Municipality. This information was released today at press conference in Palilula Municipality.

About this unique event the president of the Municipality PhD Igor Novakovic and Srdjan Savic, general manager of NKC spoke to the press.  The programme was helped by Ekopolis net and with great help of Goethe Institute in Belgrade, all with the support of NKC and under the sponsorship by Palilula Municipality. By favour of  this manifestation sponsors all projections are free for public. The programme consists of two projections every night from 19 00 and 21 00 hours.

The opening ceremony is on Wednesday February 4 at 18 30 with the promotion of German classic film posters from the period of the sound film beginnings. 12 posters  from film companies UFA  1930 to 1943 are in a way the eyes witnesses of that time and film history. The authors of this posters were the best illustrators of that time: Robert L. Leonard, Theo Matejko, Josef Fenneker, Werner Graul, Heinz Schulz-Neudamm and Peter Pewas.

The cycle of 10 films, that are all titled in Serbian, was organized by Dragan Vidojkovic, manager od International film parade - Ecopolis fest. ` `Amphitryon` 1935 is the movie scheduled for the opening. This film was directed by Reinhold Schünzel and `Der Blaue Angel`, 1930 with gorgeous Marlene Dietrich  is the second for the opening night.

`This activity, said president Novakovic, gives us new impulses in  the realization of international cultural cooperation with Goethe Institute and the Embassy of Germany in Belgrade. Our expectations are that this cooperation will continue`.

`This programme has gathered German film classics from the time of sound filmbeginnings , marked artistically and experimentally by German  directors – emphasized Srdjan Savic, NKC manager and Dejan Dabic, film critic and editor of film programme in NIKC.

`The development of German films of the 30s and early 40s was  in few levels. Monopolization of UFA in German industry was completed by  triumphal arrival of new sound film that started and in 1942, as well as the influence of the rule of national-socialists from 1933. The beginnings of the 30s were marked by taking over the by of natzi and with the breaking out of WW II. With all this free German film artists had sudden end and the best of German film makers emigrated to the States, where in new conditions, continued with art creating and enriched Hollywood cinematography in this way.
