ECOLOGY AND
CULTURAL
HERITAGE

Sixth
international
festival of
ecological
and
archeological
movies – `Ekopolis
fest 2009`
was opened
at the end
of the
previous
week in the
City Hall.
It was
opened for
remembering
June 5 -
`World day
of life
protection`
and the
Saint day of
Nis and will
be finished
on June 10
with the
projections
in Nis
cultural
Center hall.
This unique
manifestation,
that has
already
become a
tradition,
was opened
in the name
of the City
of Nis, the
mayor of Nis
and Palilula
Municipality
by Dusica
Davidovic,
City
councilor.
Slobodan
Jovanovic,
multimedia
artist and
professor of
Nis
University
spoke about
the role and
importance
of
documentary
film in
education of
citizens and
international
projects.
Dragan
Vidojkovic,
art
director,
emphasized
that 35
films will
be
presented,
20 of them
with
ecological
themes and
15
archeological
from 8
countries:
Austria,
Belgium,
Italy,
Germany,
Serbia,
France,
Switzerland,
and Spain.
The selected
movies are
featured
with high
scientific
quality but
also
attractive
approach to
cultural
heritage, so
that they
allow, not
only to the
professionals,
but also to
those who
are
attracted by
old
civilizations,
protected
natural
resources,
introducing
with the
significant
and precious
world
monuments of
culture and
nature.
Those films
are mostly
news and
reports but
also
educational
films that
represent
significant
discoveries,
great
achievements
from the
past from
various
civilization
periods. The
audience
will be
introduced
in very
attractive
and
interesting
way with the
latest
archeological
research and
ecological
campaigns
and
worldwide
activities.

it refers to
worldwide
ecological
campaign
`Clean up
the world`
and national
action
`Clean up
Serbia`
promoted by
EKOpolis
net.

opened
by

The
organizer of
`EKOpolis
Fest` is
media net
EKOPOLIS
that has
been a
regular
promoter of
this unique
festival
from 2003,
when for the
first time
organized
this sort of
manifestation
in the
cooperation
with Goethe
Institute,
Italian
institute
for culture,
French
Cultural
Center in
Belgrade,
National
Museum in
Belgrade,
Institute
for natural
environment
protection,
Tourist
organization.
The festival
does not
have
competition
type of
character
and from the
very
beginning it
has been
created as
the review
of the
latest
achievements
in the
production
of
documentary
film. The
City of Nis
is one of
few cities
in the
Region where
cultural
public has
the
opportunity
to be
introduced
with the
latest film
achievements
in the
sphere of
ecology and
sustainable
development,
archeology,
tourism and
common
scientific
disciples.
All films
are
subtitled
and the
entrance for
the visitors
is free with
special
thanks to
Festival
