THE INITIATIVE
FOR “BUBANJ”
MEMORIAL PARK
RECONSTRUCTION
STARTED
02.03.2009.
After the
invitation of
PhD Novakovic,
the president of
Palilula
Municipality,
the meeting for
Memorial park `Bubanj`
reconstruction
was held. Dragan
Kreckovic, vice
manager of
`Institute of
urban planning`
public
enterprise with
associates,
Dejan Davidoski,
the
representative
of biking club `Zeleznicar`
and Slobodan
Gejo, the
representative
of
mountaineer-alpine-expedition
club `Nis`,
Srdjan Nonic,
the
representative
of sport club
`Oxygen` and
Milos Vukotic
were all present
at this meeting.
At the meeting
the
possibilities of
Memorial park `Bubanj`
were discussed
and those
reconstructing
possibilities
will not in any
case ruin or
destroy the
basic meaning of
this place, but
only will refine
this place that
has educational
dimension for
its final
objective.
Igor Novakovic,
the president,
called the
representatives
of sport clubs
to submit in
short period of
time the written
suggestions on
this park
reconstruction,
since the
further
procedure is to
address to the
city authorities
for making
necessary
conditions for
park
reconstruction.
The aim is to
make this
memorial place
closer to Nis
citizens,
especially to
younger
generations who
are not much
familiar with
the history of
this place from
WW2.
Dejan Davidovski
spoke of `Zeleznicar`
club idea of `Bubanj`
reconstruction.
In one surface
part of this
park the bike
paths will be
constructed.
They exist even
now in some way,
but this will be
their
completion. He
added that this
club has only
one basic
point-to
preserve the
natural
surrounding of
this area.
Slobodan Gejo
suggested the
construction of
climbing rock
that will be the
attraction for
the people of
this sport
discipline.
Srdjan Nonic
talked about the
improving the
area for skaters
and roller
skaters. Milos
Vukotic spoke of
the fact that
all these new
possibilities
would only
attract bigger
attention of
people from Nis.
Dragan Kreckovic
spoke in the
name of public
enterprise
`Institute for
urban planning`
and expressed
his positive
meaning of the
ideas and
initiatives of `Bubanj`
innovating as
well as uggested
to react
promptly so that
the `Plan of
detailed
regulation of
Bubanj Memorial
park` could be
changed which is
a precondition
for making all
these ideas come
true.
Bubanj is a
height at south
- west part of
the City of Nis
and it is
situated at
Palilula
municipal
territory.
During the WW2
the Germans shot
over 10,000
people – all
civilians,
there. After the
war, this
monument,
representing
three big fists
– of a mother,
child and
father- was
there
constructed to
remind the
future
generations of
their brave
ascendants.
These fists are
the symbols of
the defiance
against the
invaders.
