TWINNING OF SVOGE AND PALILULA

Emil Cvetanov, the president of Bulgarian Municipality Svoge (Sofia districting (www.svoge.bg) with his associates visited Palilula Municipality after the invitation of Palilula Municipal government. The theme of this gathering was the realization of  border cooperation in 2009 programme, as well as discussion on the project ideas and potential donor type projects. The presidents of two municipalities Svoge and Palilula – Cvetanov and Novakovic signed `Twinning agreement`. This cooperation, that has lasted up to now more than three years, will be continued and improved with new activities. His Excellency Georgi Jurukov, the general consul of the Republic of Bulgaria in Nis, expressed his satisfaction with the results both sides have reached so far and with the degree of mutual cooperation.

Milan Djurdjevic, president of Palilula Assembly, Vesna Jovanovic –Jankovic, secretary of Palilula Municipality, Bojan Ilic, head of Municipal administration In the name of Palilula Municipality and members of Municipal council: Milos Stojkovic, Milan Andrejic and Milan Stevanovic were also presenting Palilula during this meeting.

Later today Bulgarian delegation had meetings with the mayor of Nis Milos Simonovic, general managers of TON (Tourist organization of Nis) and `Parking servis` public enterprise. In the afternoon hours the delegation also visited the `Faculty of work safety`, University of Nis. The dean PhD Dragan Spasic and docent dr. Goran Ristic, vice dean for quality and development area, expressed their interest and readiness to promote the study of Nis university programme to Bulgarian students – specially new study programme – management of communal systems.

Svoge Municipality is one of rare local governments in Bulgaria that has its own office in Brussels and that is focused on the basis of information on projects financed by EU. Cooperation with Palilula Municipality first started within the project for neighborhood programme Bulgaria - Serbia ` Upgrading the level of flowing information and communication between border regions` financed by European agency for reconstruction within CARDS programme.
