STRENGHTENING ROMA WOMEN AND COMMUNITY MOBILIZATION

Association of Roma women `Osvit` and Palilula Municipality have realized on of ten planned one-day seminars within the project `STRENGHTENING ROMA WOMEN AND COMMUNITY MOBILIZATION OVER MUTUAL EDUCATION GUIDED BY PRINCIPLES OF INCLUSION`. Seventy five representatives of local self government and seventy five Roma women from City of Nis Roma settlements– Mediana and Palilula municipalities, Aleksinac, Prokuplje and Pirot, gathered in hotel `Aleksandar`. The lectures with the title  `Open the door for us` were organized during this day. Ana Sacipovic, director of `Osvit` association spoke about history, culture, tradition and customs of Roma nationality and Boban Mikic, member of Palilula Council and Safet Susica spoke about legal regulations with affirmative  measures for inclusion. `General objective of this project is contribution to increased participation of Roma nationality women in creating public policy of local community, especially of the one that has influence to their status`-emphasized Boban Mikic, `as well as creating conditions that are better for the participation of Roma women in public policy processes for inclusion Roma women into working groups and bodies for elaboration of LAP and Roma Declaration realization `.

`With the realization of 10 one-day seminars for 150 participants and with sensitization of the employed in local self government for inclusion of Roma women into processes of public policy and strengthening capacity and competiveness of Roma to participate into processes of creating public policy, over education during seminars`-emphasized Ana Sacipovic, `we will provide strengthening of Roma women and community mobilization`.
