PALILULA – IGOUMENITSA
INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION - THE WAY TO PROJECTS

Palilula Municipality delegation, led by Milan Djurdjevic, president of Palilula Assembly, Bojan Ilic, head of municipal administration and Milos Stojadinovic, project manager, visited Greece and Thesprotia region, Thesprotia Regional commerce chamber and Igoumenitsa – center of this region (www.igoumenitsa.org).

In very dynamic programme of activities of this visit, Palilula delegation had the meeting with Vasilios N. Giogiakas, head of Thesprotia region and discussed in Project department about the forms of cooperation of these two interested sides. After this part, the meeting with Paschos Alexandros, the president of Regional commerce chamber of Thesprotia proceeded. The meeting was about projects, trade resources, companies that could be interested for cooperation. Open armed reception and readiness for every kind of cooperation was expressed by Thomas C. Pitoulis, the mayor. After exchanging information about the potentials of two municipalities, cities and regions, the cooperation on projects was agreed, but also was pointed at interest for twinning of two municipalities.

After agreed return visit of Pitoulis, mayor of Igoumenitsa, to City of Nis and Palilula Municipality in November this year, it will be discussed about details of future cooperation.

Igoumenitsa is the center of Thesprotia region in Greece and is integrated of many communities. Igoumenitsa also is maritime town with more than 15, 000 people and spreads to 80.808 hectares. It is transit center, situated 480 km from Athens and 470 km from Thessalonica, but also the sea harbour that connects Greece and Italy. With ferry boat Igoumentisa – Paxos - Corfu – Patra, one can also travel to Bari, Brindisi, Venice and Ancona. Igoumenitsa is a beautiful city, combination of mountains, sea, large beaches Tolo and Makrigalos (7km of length), crystal blue waters that amazes the visitors and is a true heaven for tourists.
