`Third Agriculture Fair - Nis 2009` that was organized in Niska Banja from September 25-27 by the Administration for agriculture and village development (City of Nis) and was opened by Milos Simonovic, the mayor of Nis. Palilula Municipality participated in the preparation of this fair manifestation and represented the wide range of products from this municipal area.
The Fair offer was represented this year in closed space of `balloon hall` area where the presentation of firms, equipment producers, agricultural producers were, while the visitors of this fair could see exhibitions of home made products and ethno art pieces, exhibition of wild animas and small animals and pets, flower exhibition, as well as exhibition of agricultural mechanization and equipment. In the time of this fair the Republic exhibition of goats, sheep and simmental cows was organized together with Horse competition in steeplechase category. There were also many advising activities from cattle breeding, fruit growing and vine growing and other professional lectures. The first international exhibition of caricature, with the theme `Healthy food - life of village`, with the participation of the authors from all continents was also organized. International festival of domestic ethno folk originality, and the scene of original music and folklore heritage was also opened during the fair.
Palilula municipality is a wide territory with 15 villages: urban part of 7,395 hectares under agricultural soil and from this number 6,648 hectares of cultivated soil and 747 hectares are pastures. There are two different regions: plain and mountainous areas. The development of agriculture in the recent years in Palilula villages have been established mostly over the realization of projects "The development of the goat breeding in the mountainous area of the Municipality of Palilula" and `The Development of fruit growing in plain areas of Palilula`, with various subventions to agricultural production, advising and other presence of authorities at the very place of matter.
